Printing alloys
They are commonly used in the printing industry to produce type. However, versions containing lead and antimony (maximum 10%), arsenic, and tin, known as hard lead , are suitable for:
– cable coatings,
– elements of chemical equipment,
– parts for battery production,
– elements of power insulators.
Antimony actually increases the castability and hardness of printing alloys. The latter also increases with the addition of tin .
The addition of arsenic in addition to tin further increases this hardness and improves abrasion resistance .
This produces durable printing alloys with many applications, good castability and hardness, which can be recognized in air, among other things, by their shiny surface.
